Breathwork and meditation
Breathing techniques, conscious breathing, pranayama… there are many terms today that describe different ways of controlled breathing. The term Pranayama is derived from several Sanskrit roots: prana meaning “life force”, yama meaning “control” and ayama meaning “extension” or “expansion”.
The breath is a symbol of life force, prana, and pranayama can be understood as methods of extending and an expansion of life energy, life force through the conscious control of breath. Each breath-related term has its own roots and deep meanings.
What I have learned is that any breathing exercise, when performed consciously will benefit not only the physical body, but will help you feel better, healthier and less stressed.
Breathing combined with guided meditation are wonderful tools for relieving stress, anxiety, overwhelm, managing to rest better, improving digestion and other body processes, restoring a sense of balance in life, and helping general healing. Breathing consciously tones the respiratory muscles, calms or energizes the nervous system (depending on the technique chosen), balances hormone production, opens energy channels in the body, is deeply connected to our emotions and thinking.
Meditation improves awareness and observation, relaxes the agitated mind, helps achieve states of calm and serenity, and teaches us how to be at ease in a world that is in opposition to this state. Practicing breathwork and meditation, performing various breathing techniques, with different levels of depth and awareness are always a beautiful experience, they are a constant journey of discovery, or better said: a rediscovery of the depth of being, a memory of who we really are and what are the things that really matter.
Each participant brings their own yoga mat, towel or other personal items.
